Hello Blackcomb Peaks Friends!

There is so much to do in Whistler on these beautiful leaf peeping days before winter fully hits! If you thought that this resort is good during the summer and winter months only, you are wrong. The changing colors, snow making its way lower and lower towards the valley, raging rivers, and wildlife busy with their winter prep are all amazing things going on during this transition time. From a cultural and events perspective, Whistler Village is not sleepy by any means.

Check out what’s happening this month in Whistler:

#1: Cornucopia – Whistler’s Celebration of Food - November 10-20, 2016

Every food & drink fan should take part in one of the Cornucopia events, if not the whole event. Explore what program would interest you the most and book your tickets here – hurry!

Also, if you are wondering about Christmas gifts, consider the “Chef’s Choice – A Whistler Book” available for purchase at Cornucopia, Armchair books (near Visitors Centre), Nesters Market or Whistler Kitchen works (beside Escape Route at the Market Place.

#2: Yoga @ The Audain art Museum, November 15th + other dates in the following months

As you may remember from our Sep 6th post “Fall in the Name of Art”, the Audain Museum is a new edition to the Whistler’s portfolio of Art. This cool event is held one day each month (Nov 15, Dec 6, Jan 17, Feb 21, Mar 14) and offers unusual yoga classes inspired by a different gallery or artist. The entry fee ($15 + GST) will go towards the various educational programs held at the Museum, which is something we can get behind! The classes are always held from 6 – 7:15pm on a drop-in basis only. So make sure to arrive early as once all spots are filled up, there is no other way to get in!

#3: Kokanee Live Presents: 5 Alarm Funk, November 19th @ 9:30pm

The GLC (Garibaldi Lift Company) lounge bar and The Mountain Life Magazine are celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary and Winter Kickoff Party. You can get your tickets at Escape Route or on the Whistler Blackcomb Site for $15 (first 150) and for $20 after and at the door. Pump yourself up before the event by listening to some of the band’s music here.

#4: Photo Contest by Pique Magazine, deadline NOV 20th @ 11:59pm

The Pique Magazine, Whistler’s local paper, runs a “Why do you love the white stuff” photo contest where participants can win 1 of 2 snow packages. Anyone can take part in this event; you don’t need to be a pro photographer to qualify. In fact, anyone who has a photo collection from their vacation time in Whistler can participate. Simply review the one which best captures YOU having a fun snow moment. Review full terms and conditions to learn how you can participate etc.

#5: Base Camp Celebration – The Night Before Opening Day (official opening currently scheduled for November 24th) 7pm – 10pm (subject to change)

Whistler Blackcomb is running this awesome event to greet the upcoming winter season, and it’s totally free. Come out and have fun listening to some live music while chilling out at covered campfire zones, drinking some nice beer (19+ beer garden), and enjoy some free prize giveaways.
