Whistler Blackcomb is starting to wake up from another great winter, and it is officially spring in our beloved resort town. With spring comes a new lift schedule, goggle tans, neon ski suits for gaper day, barbecues, apres ski cocktails on patios, and a variety of parties and events not to be missed. Simply put, spring is a great time in Whistler!

Whistler Mountain closed on April 22, but the ski/snowboard season on Blackcomb Mountain is going strong. Blackcomb’s season has been extended through May 26, 2014, and there’s plenty of good groomers and corn snow to enjoy, as well as our world-famous spring terrain park!

Blackcomb will be open from 10am to 4pm daily, with Wizard Express, Excelerator Express, Solar Coaster Express, and Jersey Cream Express open, as well as a handful of lifts open on weekends and volume and weather dependant. The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola is currently closed and will re-open for the summer season on May 24. Rendezvous and Horstman Hut are the 2 on-mountain restaurants still serving food and drinks.

The Spring Park at Whistler opened April 22, 2014 with some new changes this year to keep park riders and the public safe. The Park will extend all the way to the bottom of Solar Coaster Express, with a second Park starting at Powerline and extending to the bottom, which eliminates the need for park riders to merge with skiers and snowboarders that are just out enjoying the hill - Whistler Blackcomb thinks this will be a much safer and better experience for everyone! Spring Park riders can look forward to banked slalom features, side hits, tabletops, and plenty of rails to grind.

Go Fest, Whistler’s Great Outdoors Festival is coming up in just a few weeks. This weekend of sports and music lands in Whistler on Friday, May 16 through May 19 and is not to be missed! Concerts run from Friday night through all day Sunday, with acts including The Sheepdogs, The Boom Booms, Foxy Moron, and She Stole My Beer. Each day, festival attendees can take their pick of a wide range of contests, sports demos, and tournaments, sure to entertain and provide some laughs. From the Ultimate Frisbee Tournament to the Great Slush Cup, the GO Enduro mountain bike race, and an AlpenGlow Fun Run, there is so much to do at Go Fest!

If that isn’t enough, the Whistler Bike Park opens this same weekend, May 16, 2014. Where else can you mountain bike, ski/snowboard, and attend a great spring festival in the same weekend?! Blackcomb Peaks has a wide variety of Aspens condos, as well as Valhalla townhomesSnowbirds, and Painted Cliffs! Book your Whistler spring getaway today!
