Upcoming races: February 16 - Super G, February 23 - GS, March 15 - Dual GS and Team Relay. No racing experience is required to join in on the fun of recreational racing. Come out and have some fun with your friends in this series held every Thursday thoughout the season. Open to skiers, telelmarkers and snowboarders, participants' races are videotaped and played at the Kokanee awards party where everyone has a chance to win great prizes. Please note that helmets are mandatory, and the race location and discipline vary each race. Registration prior to the event day is through Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations and Ski School sales locations. Registration on competition day is from 8:30 - 9:45 am; location is dependent on race location.
The second annual P'ayakentsut returns with traditional loppet races of varying distances for adults and older teens, ski cross event for younger teens, and fun ski tournament for kids. Registration for 2012 will open soon. More info here
The Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard Cross events are recreational competitions open to all ages. Amateur skiers and boarders will compete in different age and discipline divisions on the Nintendo Terrain Park Snowcross course. Places are limited in each categroy. Pre-registration is strongly recommended through Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations and Ski School Sales locations.
Presented by Showcase - The King of the Rail is a series of rail jam contests which run on select evenings at the base of Whislter Mountain next to the Fitzsimmons Chair at 7 pm. There are separate categories for snowboarders and skiers, males and females, and adults and youth. Category winners will receive a percentage of the cash entry fees. Plus all participants have a chance to win fantastic draw prizes from Showcase, Burton, Atomic, Nintendo, TELUS, DNA and more.
