Hiking Whistler's Snow Walls

Every summer, Whistler Blackcomb carves an incredible path through the several meters of snow left over from the winter, creating what is known as the Whistler Snow Walls! Hiking through this labryinth of snow is truly a sight to see, and a fun summer activity from May to June (or July depending on the amount of snowfall during the winter and how quickly it thaws in the spring.

The 7km round trip hike up Pika’s Traverse hiking road on Whistler Mountain to see the giant snow walls is rated an easy hike, so it's great for the whole family. Whistler Blackcomb does an incredible job of carving the walls to create a hike with breathtaking views and awe inspiring (and leg burning!) moments. Allow 60-90 minutes round trip for the hike and don’t forget to allow yourselves time to take some unforgettable pictures. Both the Whistler Village Gondola, or the Peak 2 Peak 360 Experience, will take you to the Whistler summit, and the hike begins at the Roundhouse Lodge. A Peak 2 Peak day ticket is $53.95 CAD + 5% tax, and a summer season pass is just $79.95 + 5% tax).

We recommend Blackcomb Peaks guests add this to their list of things to do these next couple of weeks. But with all this sunny weather we have been getting, you won’t be able to see them for much longer!

In the words of John Muir, "Climb the mountains, and get their good tidings." We couldn't agree more!
